How to tell whether jadeite is genuine? What are the methods to distinguish A-grade products?

"A" does not indicate the grade of jadeite, nor does it mean good jadeite. Grade A jadeite refers to pure natural jadeite that has not been chemically treated. Because it is pure natural jade, it must have some pure natural characteristics when it is generated underground. If it is made into B-grade or C-grade jade by chemical treatment, the pure natural characteristics will be eliminated. Therefore, the identification of A-grade jade is mainly based on the pure natural characteristics of jade, such as: jade nature, structure, color, pure natural defects, etc.

Look at the color of jade: the color of pure natural jade is visible and unevenly distributed; the color of colored jade is diffuse, invisible, and has a floating feeling, with a silk screen structure spread all over the surface.

Look at the color boundary: The transparency of A-grade jade is uneven, and the boundary between transparent and opaque positions is clear; the transparency is the same everywhere, and the boundary between green and white is a gradual transition.

Look at the transparency: the colored parts of A-grade jade are relatively transparent, while B-grade jade is whitish, foggy, and turbid as a whole; the transparency is the same everywhere.

Look at the internal cleanliness: A-grade jade contains a little impurities, especially dirty spots and dark brown oxidized rust. B-grade and B+C-grade jade are clean inside and usually do not produce oxidized rust. Jade is something that grows naturally, and nothing in nature is perfect, so we can identify whether it is real jade from the imperfect parts. If a piece of jade is flawless, transparent and green like glass, you have to be careful, because it is most likely a fake.

Look at the jadeite's properties: When observing jadeite under reflected light, the cleavage reflected light of the minerals visible on the rough surface is the "fly wings". On the smooth surface, the "fly wings" can also be seen when shining a spotlight on it. If you can see the fly wings, it means that the texture of the jadeite is relatively rough.

Look at the orange peel effect: When observing natural jade on a polished surface using reflected light, you will see bumps and dents of varying sizes and orientations — this is the orange peel effect. The boundaries between the bumps and dents of A-grade jade are gradually and smoothly transitioned.

If you are an ordinary customer and just want to buy a piece of jade for yourself, please go to a quality inspection station to identify the jade. This is the most accurate and fastest way to identify jade. Usually the quality inspection station charges 20-200 yuan and can get a conclusion in as fast as half an hour. The appraisal certificates issued by national authoritative departments are very accurate in jade appraisal, and it should be said that there are very few deviations. Even if there are any problems, compensation can be pursued. If you are interested in jade identification, you must receive special training to master it.
