Jade color identification and understanding! The important influence of jade color on jade value

Jade has extremely rich colors, roughly including red, green, purple, white, yellow, black and other colors, and these colors can appear on a piece of jade at the same time, which is a feature that ordinary jades do not have. In particular, the shapes, combinations, depths and distribution of jade colors are ever-changing. In Chinese folk, “36 waters, 72 beans, and 108 blues” are often used to describe the diversity of jade colors.

The color of jade is caused by the different metallic elements it contains. One is CR, metallic chromium. It makes jade a bright emerald green; the other is trivalent iron, which gives jade a bluish-green hue. These two metallic elements cause two different shades of jadeite green. If the red hue of divalent iron is added, it constitutes several major categories of jadeite color. Starting from the following three aspects, we can better understand and judge the color of jadeite.

First, the color tone. The color tone of jade is often called "color qi", just like a person's complexion, it is the first impression that this thing gives people. Taking green jadeite as an example, it can be divided into three categories in terms of color tone: the first category is pure green, which is loved by everyone, and we often call it pure color or water green; the second category is blue-green; the third category is yellowish color, which we often call bean green, and is the most common color in jadeite. Therefore, we need to have a horizontal axis in our minds to recognize the color tone more accurately and make the first step of judgment.

The second is the richness of the emerald green. The richness of jadeite's color, that is, its saturation. For example, the medium tone of pure green is divided into ten levels of intensity. A very light pure green is called light water green; a pure green of four or five points is called apple green; and a pure green of seven or eight points is people's favorite imperial green, which is extremely valuable. If it is darker, it is often called old color and its value is much lower. This standard is like a vertical axis, through which we can accurately analyze the specific situation of the emerald green.

Finally, color and shape. Color shape refers to the specific distribution form of color. Some are in the form of threads, some are in blocks, and some are a little thin. For example, things with full colors are several times more expensive than things with partial colors. Things that are full-colored and taken from the color root and those that reflect the full color also have very different values. Only by clearly understanding the color and shape of jade can we make an accurate judgment on its color.

In ancient China, the jadeite was a bird that lived in the south. It had beautiful feathers, usually in colors such as blue, green, red, and brown. Generally, the male of this bird is red, called "fei", and the female is green, called "cui".

This word appeared in Shuowen Jiezi, the earliest Chinese dictionary compiled by Xu Shen in the Eastern Han Dynasty: "Fei, a red-feathered bird; Cui, a green-feathered bird", referring to a bird in the Lingnan region. Chen Ziang, a famous Tang Dynasty poet, wrote in his poem “Ganyu”: “Emerald nests in the South China Sea, male and female pearl trees in the woods…beautiful jewelry, luxuriant brocade quilts.

Jadeite of various uneven colors! There is a saying about jade: a one-point difference in color will result in a ten-fold difference in price, which shows the important influence of color on the value of jade. The colors of jade are rich and varied, which adds to its beauty and makes people crazy!

1. Bright green: The green is pure, genuine and rich, but without any black tones.

2. Blue-green: Green with a slight blue tint, which is called green with a slight blue hue from the perspective of gemology. Because of its green and slightly blue hue, it looks calm and mysterious, giving people a more "heavy" feeling.

3. Emerald green: The green is vivid. If it grows on glass, it will sway and drip like green water. The color is lighter than bright green and is a representative of standard green.

4. Yang Green: The green is bright and slightly yellowish. Because of the yellowness, the green has a bright sense of life.

5. Light green: The green is lighter and not bright enough.

6. Turbid green: The color is darker than light green, but slightly turbid.

7. Dark green: The color is rich but darker, not bright, but still retains a green hue.

8. Dark green: The green is so dark that it has a black hue.

9. Blue: The color is slightly blue with a slight green tint, which gemology calls slightly green in blue.

10. Gray: The color is neither blue, green nor black, but has a gray tone.

11. Yellow: Most of the yellow comes from the inner bark, and the texture of the yellow hue is often a jade type above the winter melon ground level.

12. Purple: In contrast to jadeite red, those born in the fog are jadeite red, and those born in the jade flesh are mostly piles (purple), which are divided into light purple, purple, bright purple, and blue purple.

13. White: This color is the most common in jadeite. When it is born above the chemical ground, it is colorless, and when it is born below the bean ground, it appears white.

14. Jadeite red: Most of it comes from the inner skin. Those born in the jade flesh are mostly distributed in filaments, and some are in flakes. The red in the cracks is the result of the invasion of iron elements.

15. Black: No green tint, inky black.

16. Tri-color: Two colors on a white background are called "Fu Lu Shou", and three colors are called "Fu Lu Shou Xi".
