3 basic methods to identify the authenticity of jadeite. You can only be considered an entry level if you learn them

As a newcomer to jade, I think the first thing everyone wants to learn is how to simply identify the authenticity of jade. Many people still don’t know how to identify the authenticity of jade when purchasing it. Especially now that the technology of jade counterfeiting is becoming more and more sophisticated, sometimes even veterans can fall into the trap accidentally. Today I will teach you 3 tricks to help you quickly get started in the world of jade.

1. Observe the inside of the jade

Jade can be roughly divided into three categories. Grade A jade (natural jade); Grade B jade (glue-injected jade); Grade C jade (dyed jade). The color inside natural jade has a color root, and the transition between color depth and color intensity appears very natural. Fake jade has no color roots, and the color gives people a feeling that it is only superficial, without the natural feeling of natural jade. We can also use a magnifying glass to carefully observe the surface of the jade. The surface of natural jade is very smooth, while the surface of fake jade may have many small pits.

2. Compare the weight of jadeite

We all know that the density of jade is roughly 3.30-3.36. This density is relatively high compared to other jades. When you hold jade in your hand, you will feel a weighty feeling. In short, it is very comfortable to hold. This weighty feeling is similar to that of gold. Therefore, the jadeite we want to identify should be compared with the real jadeite of the same size.

3. Compare the luster of jadeite

The fillers used in fake jade are usually resin and plastic. Although they are all transparent, the gloss is completely different. The luster of resin is waxy, while the luster of real jade is clear and not draggy.

Learn these 3 tricks to identify jadeite, and you are now started.
