From rough stone to bracelet, the most critical step of the eight steps is to draw a circle

Why is it that the same white icy jade pendant costs only a few thousand dollars, but a bracelet costs several thousand dollars? Don’t be fooled by its plain appearance, the bracelet is actually a very luxurious style of jadeware. When a piece of good material is placed in front of the processing master, the first thing he considers is whether he can cut it into a bracelet. After cutting the bracelet, he considers processing the bracelet core and scraps into pendants or ring faces. Take a look at the bracelet making process below, and you will understand how difficult it is to make a bracelet. So, don’t ask me to find you an ice-type bracelet that costs a few thousand yuan. I really can’t do it!

Step 1: Polishing the raw stone

The surface of the jadeite raw stone is covered with a layer of skin. You don’t know the quality of the inside until you cut it open. Generally, a small window will be rubbed out of the raw stone, and then viewed under a light to determine whether there is green, as well as the width, depth, and intensity of the color. At this time, you can judge whether it can be made into a bracelet based on the direction of the cracks in the original stone. Only relatively perfect materials can be cut into bracelets with few cracks.

Step 2: Cutting the stone into slices

After understanding the raw materials, the raw stone needs to be cut into slices of different thicknesses. This step is very critical. If the experience and skills are not in place, or there are mistakes in the direction or depth, the green may be cut off. This is the difference between an expert and an ordinary worker, and it determines whether the owner's pocket is fat enough.

Step 3: Draw a circle

This circle is not meant to curse anyone, but to determine the size of the bracelet based on the cracks and color of the material, so that the color and water quality of the bracelet can reach the optimal solution, ensuring the best distribution of colors, the largest number of bracelets and perfect crack-free. Only processors with a high sense of responsibility and a good attitude can take on this important task.

Step 4: Suction of inner and outer embryos

Place the sheet of material with the bracelet position drawn on it onto the diamond lathe, and use corresponding tools to press out the outer embryo according to the size of the outer ring. Then, according to the size of the inner ring, suck out the bracelet core, which is called sucking out the "inner embryo". In this step, it is necessary to ensure that there is always water on the original stone, otherwise it is likely to crack under high-intensity friction.

Step 5: Check the bracelet blank

After the bracelet is sucked out, you need to check whether there are impurities and color changes, whether there are cracks due to processing errors, and if there are errors, you may need to consider carving to remove the defects.

Step 6: Top and side

Removing flaws and tiny cracks from the edge of the bracelet blank is called topping, and smoothing the inside and outside edges is called edging. The inner and outer curvatures of round bracelets and flat bracelets are different, so the force and angle required during operation are different.

Step 7: Sanding

The previous steps have left many tool marks on the bracelet, which need to be processed with special tools to grind these marks from coarse to fine and make them smoother and smoother.

Step 8: Polishing

In the jade industry, there has always been a saying that "30% work and 70% polishing", which shows that polishing plays a vital role in jade production, especially for plain bracelets. Only after repeated polishing can they achieve the proper luster and show the wateriness of jade.
