The included angle between the two sets of cleavage of pyroxene is 87 degrees, close to 90°. Therefore, when pyroxene is hit by an external force of a certain strength, it will break into small, nearly square particles. Keep in mind that this is an important identification feature of pyroxene.

Pyroxene is a large category. Different pyroxenes have different mineral components, slightly different hardness, and a variety of names. It is impossible for many geologists to memorize them all. Jadeite, represented by Burmese jade, belongs to sodium aluminum pyroxene, which is harder than ordinary pyroxene, so it is called "jadeite". This is why Burmese jade is rare and precious.

Although jadeite is rare and expensive, pyroxene is a very common silicate mineral.
