The sculptor needs to constantly conceive and design the material over and over again. Only a good design can perfectly reflect the material. It also requires constant learning and practice so that the technique will become more and more sophisticated.

Today I would like to introduce a small piece of jadeite to you. I got it from a friend at a small bargain. The middle part of the material is white, and the yellow jade part is surrounded by the white part on three sides in a semi-enclosed way as usual. There are three design ideas:

1. Use the white part for the face and the yellow part for the mane to make the head of a golden lion;

2. Grind off the white part in the middle to make a tooth-shaped retro totem;

3. Grind off the white part in the middle to make a flying phoenix. After consultation with the customer, the final design was Phoenix.

Chinese people are no stranger to the phoenix. It is not only the legendary king of birds, but also a symbol of royal status and a special object of the queen. Therefore, jade carvers often like to combine the king of birds with jadeite, known as the "king of jade", to create jadeite phoenix carvings that are both beautiful and full of beautiful meanings.

The material is pressed into a rough shape, modified, and then the design is drawn, ready to start carving:

Later, in order to coordinate the proportions of the phoenix, we pressed off some of the excess parts:

The rough draft has been made, and I feel that it needs to be further refined:

Detailed picture, the material has been sent for polishing, looking forward to the water effect.

Jade Phoenix: The phoenix is also a symbol of auspiciousness and is the king of all birds. Many women like to wear the phoenix because it represents light.
