Are old jade and old pit jade the same thing?

Old pit jade

Laokeng Jade, the name this time comes from the fact that when people were mining jade in the early days, they found that the jade from some places was of very good quality, but the quality of jade from some places was much worse.

Over time, the place where high-quality jadeite has been mined is called Laokeng, and the jadeite mined from that place is called Laokeng jadeite. Those places where only inferior jade could be mined were abandoned.

Old Jade

Old jade has nothing to do with how long it has been mined, but rather refers to the time it has been mined and made into jewelry and circulated in society. That is antique jadeite.

You should know that old jadeite comes in all kinds of qualities. It goes without saying that the ones collected by ancient dignitaries and in the palace are of the highest quality and are therefore very expensive.

Add to that hundreds or thousands of years of historical significance, and it’s the icing on the cake, and it can be sold at a higher price.

However, if some of the pieces collected by the public are not fine-grained, have many cracks, and are not related to some important historical figures, they basically have no market value.

Because old jade covers a wide range, unscrupulous businessmen often use the name of old pit jade to deceive unfamiliar consumers into buying "old jade" of poor quality.
