Sharing methods on identifying the authenticity of jadeite

Jadeite, also known as jadeite jade, jadeite and Burmese jade, is a type of jade. The color of jade is natural and varied, pretty and pleasing to the eye, and is in perfect harmony with nature, representing the vitality and youthful vigor of all things. The color of jadeite is more beautiful than all other jades, its quality is finer than all other jades, and it is as clear as a crystal. Therefore, collectors call it the "king of jade" and it is favored by Oriental peoples, especially the Chinese nation.

Although jade is good, there are still many people who don’t know enough about it. When playing with jade in daily life, it is best not to expose it to high temperature. Burning will increase the volume of its molecules and cause the jade quality to change, causing it to lose its moisture, drying up its quality and making its color lighter. Therefore, it is best not to wear jade jewelry when visiting places such as beaches with strong sunlight to avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight.

It is very useful for jade lovers to master the correct methods of identifying jade. Below is a recommended method for identifying jadeite, I hope it will be helpful to you.

Shiny. After being soaked in strong acids and alkalis, jade becomes loose in structure and before being filled, corrosion pits appear on the surface, causing diffuse reflection and weakening its luster. After adding organic fillers such as resin or plastic, jade often has resin luster, waxy luster, or a mixture of glass luster with resin luster and waxy luster.

color. Because the structure of the jade is destroyed, the original optical properties inside it have also changed, so the color distribution of "B-grade expanded jade" has no sense of hierarchy. Although the green color of the jade processed in this way is still the original color, the base becomes white after being soaked in an acidic solution, the green distribution is more floating, and the previous color orientation is also destroyed, making it look very unnatural.

structure. When jade is soaked and corroded by strong acids and alkalis, a lot of substances are brought in and out, causing dissolution on the surface and inside along the mineral crystals, and forming interconnected cracks inside. Under refracted light, you can see the crisscrossing cracks inside. Under direct light conditions, the surface dissolution pits or spider-web-like patterns are clearly visible.

Surface characteristics. Jade processed in this way has obvious grooves at the original cracks because the density of the filling material is quite different from that of the jade itself. The filling material is obviously lower than the two sides, and many cracks form tortuous "grooves". Cementation or residual bubbles can be seen in the larger "grooves". The surface of jade processed by bleaching and filling with better craftsmanship is abnormally smooth, without the above signs, and requires more careful observation and measurement.

Jade jewelry is a symbol of elegance and purity, and has wonderful meanings such as auspicious dragons and phoenixes, good luck and fortune, etc. If it is exposed to oil for a long time, the oil will easily stick to the surface and affect the gloss. Sometimes the dirty oil will fill the cracks of jade jewelry, which is very unsightly. Therefore, when wearing jade jewelry, you should keep it clean. You should often clean it with a soft cloth in a neutral detergent, wipe it dry, and then polish it with a silk cloth.
