When choosing a Buddha, don’t be too Buddhist! You have to have such standards

Is your shopping method and standard Buddhist? "Buddhism" refers to a life attitude that pursues inner peace among the clouds and breeze, and focuses on working hard on the cause and letting the result be as it will. It has become a catchphrase for many people, and even a philosophy of life.

For example, shopping standards include whether it looks good, whether it suits you, and what the quality is... buy it first when you see it. Naturally, the results are often not as good as expected.

In fact, the correct Buddhist approach is a mature and rational attitude towards life, the wisdom to remain calm in dealing with contradictions and conflicts, and the correct choice to be made without any worries when faced with choices.

Being Buddhist does not mean having a negative attitude, living a bad life, or shopping casually. Just like choosing a Buddha, you can’t be casual or too Buddhist, you have to have your own standards.

The following are the basic standards for selecting a Buddha statue. The Buddha statue pictures in the article are corresponding real-life examples and can be used as a reference. If you like one, you can take it home directly.

1

Look at the eye

Eye contact can also be called first impression. When you feel comfortable when you see a smiling face and feel comfortable with its big round belly, you have made the right choice.

2

Look at the appearance

① Face

The most notable feature of the Buddha is his smiling face, which gives people a kind and comfortable feeling. Therefore, the Buddha's face should be clean, free of impurities and cracks, and should not have an asymmetrical yin-yang face.

② Eyes

The Buddha's eyes are the eyes that can take in all the joy, anger, sorrow and happiness in the world. They are of uniform size and symmetrical on both sides. There is a difference between eyes open and eyes closed. The smile with eyes open reveals open-mindedness and magnanimity, while the smile with eyes closed appears to be in meditation, not like sleeping.

③ Stomach

A broad mind can accommodate the affairs of the world, and magnanimity can create blessings for generations. The belly of the Buddha represents tolerance, which can accommodate everything. It is also a symbol of blessing. No material should be skimped on and it must be in harmony with the overall proportions.

3

Look at the carving

Buddha statues are figure sculptures, so the carving should be lively and not dull, and the shape should be full and round. For example, the belly and face of Maitreya Buddha should be round, the body lines should be smooth, the surface should be flat without scratches, and the overall proportions should be even.

4

Look at the water color

The higher the quality of the jade Buddha, the more you can see its internal structure, and the more spiritual it is; the purer, brighter and more vibrant the color is. The price can vary several times depending on the water head and color.

5

Look at the size

When purchasing a jade Buddha, you should choose according to your body proportions. If you are thin, choose a smaller pendant; if you are tall or plump, you can choose a relatively large pendant. There is no hard and fast rule. Of course, you don’t have to pursue size deliberately, as long as the proportions are right and you like it.

It is often said that one should be Buddhist, but Maitreya Buddha, who prays for a better tomorrow and brings blessings and peace to people, has never been "Buddhist". Of course, we cannot be too "Buddhist" when we pray to the Buddha.
