When collecting jadeite, never take its price as its value

In our cognition, we usually think that if something is cheap, there are only two reasons:

One is that the price is low and cheap;

One is that you feel you have been taken advantage of.

But in the final analysis, these two kinds of cheapness cannot be equated with great value for money or high cost-effectiveness.

For example, you bought a piece of jade for 3,000 yuan ten years ago, and ten years later the value of this jade was 10,000 yuan. Comparing the prices, it was indeed cheap to buy it for 3,000 yuan ten years ago. But ten years have passed, and in terms of price, the value of this jade has increased, but if the inflation rate is taken into account, its value has actually depreciated.

Mature jade collectors would rather buy a good jade at a reasonable price than buy a jade with no hope of appreciation at a cheap price.

For example, most jadeite sold in shopping malls and tourist attractions is priced at more than ten times or even dozens of times the cost, and then various names are used to offer discounts and promotions, thus creating the illusion of cheapness for consumers. With jadeite priced like this, even if you buy it at 10% off, you will still be getting cheated.

For example, in some so-called "bargaining with merchants" live broadcasts, the merchants who give goods to the anchors to sell them quote prices several times higher than the psychological price. Consumers try their best and after several rounds of bargaining, they get the price down to half, thinking they have bought cheap jade. However, what they don't know is that the truth may be that they paid much more for it. This price that is several times higher only gives customers the illusion that they are getting a bargain.

Therefore, whether you are buying jade or other things in life, you must clearly distinguish whether something is really cheap, whether it is truly value for money, or whether it just feels cheap. The best way is to focus on value so as not to be misled by price.

We say that jade is actually a very profound subject. Compared with other things, the valuation of jade is more difficult. Without a certain amount of jade knowledge and experience, it is not easy to truly understand the price of a piece of jade. You must be able to understand jade first.

In addition to having a certain basic knowledge of jadeite, you still need to look around and compare more to see what prices jadeite of similar quality is selling in different places. Only by looking more can you have a certain understanding of the market conditions and ultimately make a more objective judgment on the value of a piece of jadeite to avoid being cheated.
