Jade Brand--Appreciation of Sakyamuni Buddha

Tathagata, also known as Sakyamuni Buddha, is the head of Buddhism. Tathagata means "coming from nowhere and going nowhere, hence the name Tathagata".

1: The work is rigorously conceived and the characters are reasonably arranged. Sakyamuni Buddha is located directly above, and the whole is carved out of white jade. The work adopts a sitting posture with a natural and dignified expression. The right hand is pinching the fingers, the left hand is holding a bowl, the chest is exposed, the clothes are light, and the lines of the clothes are smooth and flowing. The proportions of each part of the head are rigorous and natural; the forehead is full, the eyes are staring, the ears are drooping to the shoulders, the face is plump, the mouth is square and the nose is straight, and the chin is round. The Buddhist image of Sakyamuni Buddha in everyone's heart is perfectly carved out.

2: On both sides of Sakyamuni Buddha stand the guardian Arhats, who are slightly bent, wearing yellow robes and clasping their hands together to show respect. The arhats at the bottom are worshipping in Buddhist postures. The sculptor dressed the three arhats in jade-colored robes, with white hands and faces, reflecting the sculptor's skillful choice of colors and his knowledge and understanding of Buddhist figures.

3 The raw stone of this jade piece is mainly white ice jade, with yellow as a supplement. The raw stone has a delicate structure, the inside is clean and free of impurities, high hardness and good transparency. Personally, I prefer this work because it is grand and flawless.

In general, the subject matter of the work is prominent, the character sculptures are lifelike, and Sakyamuni Buddha is high above, dignified and solemn. It is carved out of white jade, which highlights the feeling of returning to nature. The subtle use of yellow, the perfect thickness of the original stone, and the polished frosted process give everyone a strong visual effect.
