How to identify the authenticity of jadeite? Common self-identification methods of jadeite

As the saying goes: Different trades, different mountains. Most people who don't know much about jade don't have the ability to tell whether it's real or fake. Even if you search the Internet for a lot of identification methods, you'll be dizzy. And even if you patiently try the methods introduced online, there is no guarantee that your own identification is correct. Many people often buy fakes because they don't know anything about jade at all. So, "How do you identify whether jade is real or fake?" Let's find out together.

If you are an ordinary consumer and just want to buy a piece of jade for yourself, please go to a quality inspection station to identify the jade. This is the correct and fastest way to identify jade. Generally, the quality inspection station charges 20-200 yuan, and the results can be obtained in as fast as half an hour. Many people imagine that they can find a way to identify it on the Internet. This is not advisable. Identifying the authenticity of jade is like going to the hospital to diagnose a disease. It is more reliable to be done by a professional doctor. The appraisal certificates issued by national authorities have a very high accuracy in jade appraisal, and it should be said that there are very few errors. Even if there are any problems, compensation can be sought.

Common self-identification methods of jadeite

1. Weigh it. Jadeite is a type of jadeite with a hardness of around 6.5 to 7. When you hold the jade in your hand and weigh it, you will feel a "heavy" feeling. If it is too light, further identification of other aspects of the jade is needed.

2. Look at the color. The color of natural jade has natural layers, the most obvious of which is the color roots of jade. It is very difficult to counterfeit jade because after artificial processing, the internal structure of jade is destroyed, the colors inside the jade will be mixed together and not natural, and the color will be yellowish.

3. Listen to the sound. Jade has a high density and is therefore very brittle. When identifying jadeite, you can use an iron rod to lightly tap the jadeite and listen to whether the tapping sound is crisp and pleasant. If the sound is relatively low and not crisp, then it is very likely to be a fake jade. Therefore, knocking on the jade bracelet and listening to the sound to identify the authenticity can really be considered a simple and scientific method, but this method is not suitable for laymen or beginners. It is impossible for a layman to distinguish what the crisp knocking sound of A-grade jadeite sounds like because they rarely hear it.

4. Shine purple light. When counterfeit jade is soaked in chemicals, a large amount of resin chemicals remain inside the jade, which will fluoresce when exposed to ultraviolet light. With the advancement of imitation technology, some counterfeit jadeite cannot be detected even by this method.

5. Look at the gloss. The refractive index of jade is 1.66, so its luster is similar to that of glass and has rigidity. After being soaked in strong acids and alkalis, the internal structure of counterfeit jade becomes loose, resulting in diffuse reflection, a resinous luster, and a lack of spiritual texture.

6. Check the certificate. Natural jade must be accompanied by a jade identification certificate. You can copy the certificate number to the website of an authoritative organization to verify the authenticity of the certificate.

Because fakes are harmful to your body, if you don't know anything about them, don't make random identifications. Fake jade is made with chemical solutions and can cause cancer if worn. Don't wear fakes seriously. It's best to ask someone who knows the business to help you identify them. Everyone must pay attention.
