Jade stones like jadeite are born with the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, and are perfectly suited to the mysterious gods and Buddhas. Therefore, religious themes have always been the most common elements in jade carvings and one of the most popular objects. Among them, the appearances of Guanyin and Tara are the most gentle and holy. They are as gentle as water in their purity. Not only do they save all living beings in male bodies but there is also a secret relationship between them. Legend has it that the compassionate Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has been saving sentient beings for countless eons, but sentient beings still often drown in the sea of suffering of the five desires and birth and death, and suffer immeasurable pain in the six realms of reincarnation. One day, Avalokitesvara observed with his wisdom eyes and found that although he had saved countless sentient beings, the number of sentient beings in the six realms had not decreased. He could not help but shed two tears, which turned into two lotus flowers. White Tara and Green Tara appeared from the lotus flowers. They clasped their hands together and said to Avalokitesvara in unison: "Bodhisattva, don't worry. We vow to save all sentient beings who are wandering in the sea of suffering of birth and death, and share the Bodhisattva's compassionate wish to save sentient beings." Then, the two Taras appeared as twenty-one Taras. From then on, they began to assist Guanyin Bodhisattva in saving all living beings. Therefore, Tara is the incarnation of Avalokitesvara’s tears of compassion. Tara is the abbreviation of "Holy Savior Mother of Buddha", which is translated into "Dare" in Sanskrit and "Dolma" in Tibetan. In the Han area, it was called "Dora Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva" and "Dora Guanyin" in ancient times. In Tibetan Buddhism, there are 21 Taras, depending on their body color, symbols, posture and virtues. They are all incarnations of Avalokitesvara. The Buddhist scriptures say that Tara has an extremely deep compassion and just praying to her can quickly respond and save sentient beings. Especially in the Dharma Ending Age, there are many disasters. If believers with affinity can practice the Tara Dharma and recite the Tara mantra, all their sins will be eliminated, all demonic obstacles will be eliminated, and they will be able to save themselves from all disasters. Moreover, those who are childless can get a son if they pray for a son, a daughter if they pray for a daughter, wealth if they pray for wealth, and longevity and happiness and prosperity. All their wishes will be fulfilled and achieved very quickly. The merits and benefits are immeasurable. In essence, Tara is manifested from the tears or heart of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. In fact, they are one and the same entity. Moreover, the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and Tara in Han areas are one. Just like the Four-Armed Avalokitesvara, the Great Compassionate Eleven-Faced Avalokitesvara, the Child-Giving Avalokitesvara, etc., although they have different incarnations, they are all Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Guanyin, the sound of the world, saves all sufferings. Although the external images of the jade carvings are different, they have the same original intention of saving all living beings and protecting the world.
