What I want to talk about today is the fog of jade. Fog refers to a layer of foggy opaque substance that exists between the outer weathering crust and the internal jade. It is actually the result of retrograde metamorphism of jadeite mineral. In short, fog refers to a semi-oxidized slightly weathered jadeite layer between the skin of jade (weathered or oxidized) and the interior of jade (not weathered or oxidized) or meat. There are two types of jadeite from old fields: foggy jade and non-fog jade, which are roughly evenly divided and account for half each. Many laymen say that only stones from old fields have fog, which is inaccurate. The fog is very mysterious and usually appears in winter but not in summer. The quality of foggy jade is determined by the fog, while the quality of non-fog jade is determined by its replacement function. Foggy jade is divided into upper, middle, lower and worst grades, and fogless jade is also divided in the same way. Many fogless jades have lime skin and yellow wave skin, which can reach ice and glass types, such as Damukan water stone and Moses Sand. The foggy skin is bamboo leaf skin, which is generally yellow fog or white fog. This kind of jade is also easy to have ice or glass bottom. Foggy jade is more risky. Foggy jade has an extra layer of decisive and controlling factors. It must have good sand and good fog, then the base will be good. If the sand is good but the fog is not good, the base will also fail. If the sand and fog are not good, the base is generally a shitty base. The best fog: white fog and yellow fog; the medium fog: honey fog, red fog, cow snow fog; the worst fog: black fog. There is also a special case of fog, which is skin running, that is, the inner skin runs to the outer skin. If the skin running phenomenon is found, the meat must be gray at the bottom. There is also a special situation, that is, the fog cover is not round. Good fog covers a good bottom, and the bottom where the fog cannot reach is poor. This shows that the jade is gradually transitioning from a bad bottom with fog and flaws to a good bottom, half is good and half is bad, and it gradually gets better and worse in the middle. This kind of jade is sometimes difficult to gamble on, because the places where the skin is rubbed show the best performance, leaving you to imagine. In addition, the use of fog is also a very profound knowledge, involving carving and picking knowledge. Yellow fog and red fog (thick red skin) can be made into fog egg surface. This kind of egg surface has first-class color and water quality. It is the fog layer that comes out. Sand hair is the crystallization of particles on the skin. White fog usually appears under the skin of yellow salt sand and black tungsten sand. The thickness varies, but most of them are relatively thin. If the outer skin is removed, a light white color is exposed, which means that there are few impurities inside and the base is clean, with a certain degree of transparency. If there is green under the white fog, it may be a very pure emerald green, which is priceless when matched with the base. The white fog also indicates that the species is old. The color of the stone in this fog is light, but once the fog is removed, the color will be rich. Yellow fog usually appears on yellow salt sand or water stone skin. The yellow fog system is very large, with colors such as light yellow, medium yellow, dark yellow, golden yellow, and old yellow. If it grows on top-grade jade, the utilization value of the fog cannot be underestimated, and it is a very good material for carving. Yellow fog. If the material has moldy pine flowers, once the pine flowers are removed, the fog will look very yellow, but if you wipe off the fog, the color will turn bluish and the yellow color will not be enough. If it is a large item, you should consider it carefully. Some pine flowers cannot be seen when wiped off, and the fog separates the colors. As a result, you dare not gamble, because in fact, the color will be revealed if you wipe it off again. Generally, red fog and yellow fog are caused by high iron content, and high iron content makes the green color of jadeite darker. Yellow fog shows the presence of iron oxide, but it has not yet been highly oxidized. If it is pure light yellow fog, it shows that there are few impurity elements and high emerald green often appears. However, sometimes the blue-green hue produced by iron ions may enter the interior of jadeite, and a slightly blue-green hue may also appear. Red fog. There are two types of red fog: one is light red, the other is bright red. This kind of red fog can be used to make ring faces if it is thick. It is top-grade and also a good material for carving. Red fog, generally speaking, has a gray base. Most people don't like to bet on red fog. At the same time, red fog likes to run on the skin. The most feared thing about fog is that it runs on the skin. Nine out of ten stones with fog running on the skin are gray. Black fog. Black fog often appears on black stones. The black fog cannot be too black. If it is too dark, the jade flesh may become blue, gray-blue or black-blue, and there will be black spots or other mosses in the flesh. Black fog is mainly caused by a large number of internal impurities, with poor transparency. Some black fogs may also appear high green, but sometimes the water is very poor. Black fog can be thin or thick. Thick ones have a gray base, but will appear high green, but the color strength is not enough. Black fog can also have high green and base color. Honey fog, the color of the fog is like honey. This kind of fog represents that the texture of the jade must be very delicate and transparent, and it is a superior fog. Ox Blood Mist, the color of the mist is condensed like ox blood. The base of the jadeite with Ox Blood Mist is gray. If there are loose flowers on the outer skin, you must not cut it. It has many cracks, a gray base, a lot of mosses, and color bias. When gambling on jade, you must understand the duality of fog. Some jades have loose flowers, and you can't see the color when you rub them. It's because the fog blocks the color, so you don't dare to gamble. In fact, if you rub it again, the color will come out. If the outer skin is polished off to reveal a light white color called white fog, it means that there are few impurities inside and the base is clean, with a certain degree of transparency. If there is green under the white fog, it may be a very pure emerald green, which is priceless when matched with the base. White fog also indicates that the jade is old. Not all jade produces fog. Jade produced from primary deposits has basically no fog. It is mainly because of the strong weathering degree that the fog of jade from secondary deposits will be more obvious.
