How to buy jade that suits you

When people mention jade, they often think of high prices. But in fact, jade is not the exclusive domain of the rich, and when we choose jade, the more expensive it is, the better. The best one is the one that suits you. For ordinary people, it is not necessary to blindly pursue ice or even glass jade, nor is it necessary to choose full green jade. Jadeite like full green glass is certainly beautiful and valuable and worth buying. If you can afford it financially, I still recommend that you buy it for collection. But if your budget is not enough to buy jadeite of this quality, then I suggest you buy it according to your budget.

So how do we choose jadeite based on our actual situation?

1.Which is more important, species or color ?

Jadeite with excellent quality and color is good, but the price is naturally not cheap. If you cannot have both, I still recommend that you give priority to quality. As the saying goes, laymen look at color, experts look at quality. Jade with good quality but poor color will become more and more beautiful if it is well cared for. However, jade with color but poor quality may look okay at first, but over time, jade with poor quality may change, and the original green may turn yellow.

2. Is the bracelet too expensive? The jade inlay is also beautiful! Women are completely immune to jade bracelets. Wearing an emerald bracelet on the wrist not only adds to the beauty of the look, but also has health-preserving effects. However, bracelets with good water quality are generally more expensive. If you like bracelets but your budget cannot afford formal glass or ice bracelets, you can consider some better quality bean-type or glutinous-type jade, or choose thinner bracelets; if you have higher requirements for the water quality, you might as well choose a bracelet or pendant inlaid with jadeite. Because of their small size, you can buy better water quality at a relatively low price.

3. Being too picky will make it difficult to buy suitable jade. Although the fewer flaws in jade, the better, it is unnecessary to care too much about flaws. Some jade with good quality and color are cheaper because of flaws such as stone patterns and cotton. These jades are more suitable to buy than those with fewer flaws but inferior quality and color. So how do you choose the jadeite that suits you?

Step 1: Appreciate the craftsmanship. The processing of jade products is divided into two categories: plain and carved. Since the surface of the bare finished product is not covered, the requirements for raw materials are higher. In addition to no cracks, the cutting proportions, thickness of the product, and whether it is symmetrical are also very important and can affect the value of the finished jade product.

Step 2: Observe the color. The characteristic of jadeite is the “jade quality” (commonly known as fly wings), which is the star-like flash caused by the cleavage of its internal granular, flaky or fibrous porphyroblasts. Color is the most important factor affecting the value of jadeite, which can be evaluated from the following points:

1. Purity. Purity refers to the ratio of the main color and the secondary color of jadeite. Taking green jadeite as an example, pure green is the best, green with yellow or blue is inferior, and green with gray is the worst.

2. Appropriate shades. When it comes to the depth of color, the darker the better, of course; however, too much depth of color can also have the opposite effect and reduce the quality of the jade.

3. Vivid. The brighter the color of jade is, the better. The more gray or black it contains, the darker the color will be.

4. Uniformity: the more uniform the color distribution, the better and the higher the value.

Step 3: Look at the transparency. The transparency of jade affects the refraction of light, thus affecting the overall beauty. The state of transparency reflects the quality of jade water to a certain extent, that is, the water quality of jade can be measured by its transparency. If light hits a jadeite with low transparency and rough texture, it will reflect dull light, greatly reducing the attractiveness of the jadeite.

Step 4: Look at the structure. The structure refers to the thickness of the crystal particles that make up the jade, the shape of the crystals and the way they are combined. In jargon, the structure is called the "bottom" or the "ground". The structure of jadeite is characterized by interlaced porphyroblasts, with small fibrous mineral crystals interlaced around the translucent granular porphyroblasts. The density of the structure and the coarseness of the crystals are the basis for evaluating the quality of jadeite and measuring the grade of jadeite.

Step 5: Look at the clarity of the "bottom". The part other than the color is the "bottom". A good piece of jade jewelry must not only be of old quality and of good color, but also have a clean base and be free of impurities. Clarity refers to the flaws contained in jade, which are mainly white and black. They are caused by other minerals included in jade. Relatively speaking, black flaws are more unsightly than white ones. The fewer impurities contained in jade, the better.

Step 6: Check for cracks.

Cracks can greatly reduce the value of jade. If there is a crack on a jade ornament, the entire piece may break along the crack with a slight collision. Therefore, you need to be careful when purchasing jade jewelry. Generally speaking, it is easy to detect whether there are cracks by using a flashlight. Note: Cracks and stone patterns are different. Stone patterns are caused by the jade itself, while cracks are caused later. If the stone patterns do not affect the beauty of the jade, you can wear it, but it is recommended to avoid cracks as much as possible.

The more complete the jade product and the more materials it uses, the higher the price will definitely be. Therefore, jade bracelets are generally more expensive than other jade jewelry. Because bracelets are waste materials, the quality requirements of the materials are also high. When a piece of material is opened, the first thing to consider is definitely how to carve a bracelet, so the price will be relatively more expensive. If you don’t know how to get involved with jade, you can refer to these six steps. Of course, there is no need to demand perfection in jadeite. The best one is the one that suits you!
