Natural jadeite (A grade) identification by naked eye The difference between B-grade jadeite and A-grade jadeite is: 1. Color: Jadeite that has undergone floating color appears to be whitish overall. The color generally appears brighter, but it is unnatural and sometimes makes people feel it has a yellowish feel. 2. Luster: It has resin luster, while natural jade has glass luster. Due to the addition of fillers, the luster becomes darker, not as bright as natural jade, and has a waxy glass luster. If you observe closely with a 10x magnifying glass, you can see obvious spider-web-like acid etching marks and translucent milky white deposits on the surface. 3. Acid etching marks (cracking marks). The cracks on B-grade goods are small concave gaps formed along the boundaries of the particles. 4. B-grade jadeite has good transparency, and is mostly translucent to slightly transparent with good transparency. However, when put into water, the transparency decreases rapidly, and the whole body appears as a slightly transparent milky white waxy substance. If you use a spotlight to look through it, the transparency is uniform, as if covered by a milky white cover. The salt-like structure is unclear and cannot be seen clearly under the reflected light. The overall transparency of the jade is uniform, showing a slightly transparent milky white waxy substance. 5. The base color is clean and free of impurities. Due to the acid wash and bleaching, the oxides and other soluble impurities contained in the jade are dissolved, and the yellow and dirty colors are removed, but the light green and pink lotus colors still exist. Observe the white part of the jade carefully. If it is B-grade jade, it will be particularly white, and the green part will appear particularly fresh and pure, without the interference of yellow and gray tones. When observing, use white light, such as observing through a window or under a fluorescent tube. However, there are a small number of B-grade jadeite that were not thoroughly pickled or used with yellowish resin glue, and this feature cannot be seen. When natural jade is observed under magnification, small rust spots and small black impurities can often be seen, especially in micro-cracks where various impurities can always be seen filling the space. 6. It should feel warm and smooth when touched by hand. Touching and rubbing the surface repeatedly feels as warm and smooth as glass, without the wet and rough feeling of natural jade. The entire jade ornament is clean, without any iron marks like tea. The difference between B-grade jadeite that is bleached and filled with inorganic substances and B-grade jadeite that is filled with polymers is that it does not change color when burned, and when placed in water and viewed through with a spotlight, there is no obviously visible bright edge, and there is no loofah-like network. 7. The relative density of B-grade jadeite is lower and its quality is lighter. The relative density will be significantly less than 3.33. Identification of C-grade Jadeite 1. The color is distributed in a network-like manner between cracks and particles, and the color is silk screen-like. There are no color roots or iron traces, and the green color fades. 2. Absorption spectrum: C grade jade has an absorption band at 680nm 3. Charles filter: Most green-dyed varieties turn reddish brown under the filter fcgc66 fcpf18 |
