Grade A jade is natural

However, not all A-grade products are worth buying. Be cautious with jadeite that appears to be natural but has a dark green appearance and extremely coarse grains inside.

Be careful with B-grade jadeite

B-grade jade is jade that has been bleached or bleached and filled with glue.

This approach has emerged in the past decade.

Jadeite that is originally loose in texture and has poor transparency but is green or other colors is soaked in strong acid to remove brown, yellow, gray and other impurities, retaining the green and purple colors, and then glue is used to fill the gaps in the jadeite caused by acid erosion.

The processed jade is bright green and free of impurities.

Identification method:

1. Cracks

The crackle pattern, also known as acid-etched reticulation, is formed after jade is cut, ground and polished due to strong acid corrosion, which causes the gaps between the particles to expand and be filled with resin glue with lower hardness.

2. Dendritic fissures

If there are small cracks in the jade, more glue will be filled in the cracks after acid washing and filling with glue. Under reflected light, a greasy concave arc surface can be seen, and the boundaries are often cracked or tree-like. When the cracks are larger, you can see that the cracks are filled with transparent resin glue.

3. Clean background

"B-grade" jade is cleaned with acid to remove impurities, but the light green and lotus root powder base will still exist.

You need to carefully observe the white part of the jadeite. If it is "B-grade" jadeite, it will be particularly white, without any yellow or gray components. The natural ones often have a grayish yellow hue.

4. Glue-filled pits

"B-grade" jade is often a pendant, which often has acid-etched pits in some parts, filled with a large amount of glue, and even air bubbles enclosed in the glue can be seen.

5. The knocking sound of the bracelet

A-grade jadeite makes a crisp sound when it is gently hit.

The sound of a “B-grade” jade bracelet when knocked is dull and not crisp enough.

Avoid C-grade jadeite

Dyed jade is commonly known as "C goods".

Dyeing of jade has a long history. Generally, jade is heated in a dye aqueous solution to dye a white base green or violet, or some green is added to the natural light green to impersonate natural green jade.

Identification method:

Dyed jade is easy to identify. When examined with a magnifying glass, green dye deposits can be seen in the cracks or between particles.

The simplest way is to drop a few drops of hydrochloric acid on the dyed jade. The jade jewelry will fade and it will be easy to distinguish.

Among them, the glass type jade has a fine texture and is a better variety among many jades.

2. Water

Water refers to the transparency of jade, which is generally divided into five levels: transparent, sub-transparent, semi-transparent, slightly transparent and opaque. Generally, jade with high transparency appears crystal clear, while jade with poor transparency appears dry and dull. For example, glass and ice jade are warm and crystal clear, and the green on this matrix is ​​bright, full, and clear, highlighting its spirituality.

The glutinous and bean varieties have loose structures, and the green color they are attached to is dry, hard, dull, and colorless.

3. Color

Color refers to the color of jadeite, which include green, white, yellow, red, purple, etc. The pure ones without impurities are white. If they contain chromium, they will appear soft and bright light green or dark green, and are highly cherished and loved by people. Generally, imperial green, royal purple, and full green are considered to be more precious jadeites.
