Jade carving is when jade carvers carve meaningful lines on the original stone, showing the agility of the jade carvings, seeking movement in tranquility, overflowing from the norm, dancing wildly, and pursuing a pure stream of life. Only then can one understand the jade carvers' most unrestrained presentation of life. Today we will appreciate those jade carvings with beautiful meanings and unique craftsmanship. Using objects to convey a message "Promising Future" Material: Jade Author: Yang Xuebin The author uses lush natural scenery as the background. In the painting, several scholars are appreciating the nearby scenery and gazing at the pavilions and towers in the distance. The author uses the scenery as an allegory and the natural landscape to interpret a bright future. It not only reflects the author's ingenuity, but also the exquisite carving. "A Hundred Wealths" Material: Jade Author: Su Hongwei, Su Leisi Cabbage is a common subject in jade carvings and has always been known as "a hundred fortunes". The entire work is carved with clever colors and has a strong sense of layering, making the cabbage look lifelike. A blooming cabbage symbolizes wealth and prosperity, which is just right. Fruitful Material: Jade Author: Zhang Xun, Ren Dongxu This is a combined work in which the artist carved two pieces of jade into two pots of plants full of fruits. The jade's own color is used to distinguish the pot body from the plant fruits. The eyes are filled with green fruits, giving a heavy sense of harvest. The integrated carving demonstrates the exquisite skills of the jade carver. 《Eight Directions to Attract Wealth》 Material: Agate Author: Wei Liefeng, Liu Zuozeng, Wei Qiu The entire work uses colored agate as the raw material, and uses anthropomorphic techniques to depict crabs and other animals in a winnowing basket. The picture is thought-provoking and requires careful appreciation to fully understand the author's intention. The overbearing crab is used as a metaphor for attracting wealth from all directions. The author's ingenious ideas are still very intriguing. Tao follows nature Tao follows nature Material: Jasper Author: Zhu Zhimin "A Pure Mind Has Its Own Zen" Material: Jade Author: Guo Muhai and Xu Sheng The Wind of Life Material: Xiuyan jade Author: Li Yinghua Purple Air from the East Material: Jade Author: Zhang Xun, Ren Dongxu Autumn Friend Material: Jade Author: Jia Wentao, Yang Gen These works all use objects to express a natural state, using real objects and pictures. This type of work is very sensitive to the author's powerful ideological conception and exquisite carving skills. The picture should have a strong sense and the artistic conception should be consistent, which is the so-called "harmony between man and nature" state. This is very difficult to achieve and requires jade carvers to study and accumulate for a long time to achieve it. Fine craftsmanship Dragon Rising Material: Jade Author: Jia Wentao, Yang Gen Dragon and Phoenix Material: Warring States red agate Author: Deng Qin Life is like a dream: A startling scene Material: Jade Author: Lin Shuyue, Li Xiaogeng The Four Treasures of the Study Material: Jade Author: Fang Zonglin, Wu Qingcheng This group of works are all my favorites, including the realistic "Four Treasures of the Study", "Dragon Soaring in the Prosperous Era" and "Dragon and Phoenix Bringing Good Luck" that embody the beautiful meaning of traditional culture, and the profound "Life is Like a Dream•Stunning Beauty". The upper body of the demon skeleton and the mermaid's agile tail give a strong visual impact. The skull has always been considered a symbol of death and evil, while the mermaid's tail is a symbol of kindness and beauty. When the two extreme concepts collide, it brings us a soul-stirring thought. A story about a skull was mentioned in Zhuangzi's The Greatest Joy. The general idea is that Zhuangzi encountered an empty skeleton on his way to the State of Chu and was deeply moved. If a skeleton appears in a dream at midnight, it means that one will experience great happiness after death and will not wish to be resurrected. In the view of Taoist Zhuangzi, all things are influenced by the Tao and originally belong to one. The so-called "uniformity of unevenness" means that at the level of Tao, all kinds of opposing concepts such as big and small, beautiful and ugly, noble and humble, honor and disgrace, life and death are unified with each other, thus truly achieving the state of "Heaven and earth are born with me, and all things are one with me." Only in this way can one be free from all worries, be at ease and achieve absolute freedom. I believe the author of this work also wants to convey this message to us. Get rid of all worries, be free and at ease, and achieve absolute freedom. Behind every exquisite jade carving, there are countless efforts and sweat of the jade carvers. It is they who use their creative hands to carefully carve the beautiful jade on a simple workbench day after day, year after year. They are brave in innovation, insist on hand-made craftsmanship and keep making progress. It is also their constant dedication to the jade carving business and their passion for the art of jade carving that have presented us with a variety of excellent jade carvings.
