1. Water head and transparency

Jade is divided into transparent, translucent, slightly transparent, and opaque. For jade that can reach the ice or glass type, the higher the transparency, the better. Jadeite that is opaque, very dry, and has a large amount of clumped, fibrous or flaky cotton inside will have very low value.

2. Color

Jade comes in a variety of colors. The best green is thick, bright, pretty, correct and even, while light, dark, old, evil and flowery are inferior.

The best ones are generally at the level of Yang Green or above, with a pure green color, not gray or rigid; the purple should be rich and fresh; the red should be bright red; and those above the three-color level should be clean as a whole and set off each other. Jadeite with black spots, yellow spots, gray spots, uneven colors, and scattered distribution will give people an uncomfortable feeling, and its value will naturally be greatly reduced.

3. Texture

When observed under a 10x magnifying glass, jadeite with no grains inside is extremely fine jadeite, while jadeite with a faint sense of grains is finer jadeite; jadeite with obvious grains that are difficult to see with the naked eye is moderately fine jadeite; jadeite with grains visible to the naked eye is coarser jadeite, and jadeite with grains easily visible to the naked eye is extremely coarse jadeite.

4. Production process

Whether it is a bracelet, ring face, or carving, you need to consider the cutting, carving, polishing and other processes. For the same material, fine workmanship can make it have a higher value, while rough workmanship will infinitely reduce its value.

Generally speaking, fine materials do not require excessive modification and carving. Uncarved plain surfaces, plain work, plain plaques, bracelets, etc. have extremely high requirements for the quality of raw materials and can have high value without too much processing. However, general materials have large output and low value, and can be carved and polished at will.
