The favorite of jade carvers - Damakan jadeite raw stone, the first choice for skillful carving!

I believe that all of you jade lovers are familiar with the Damakan jadeite rough stone.

Although it is not as famous as Moshisha and others, it is the favorite of jade carvers.

This is because the Damakan field is famous for its multi-colored jadeite, including yellow jadeite, yellow and green jadeite, etc.

The richer the color of the jade, the more room the jade carver has to express himself.

Therefore, Damakan can be seen in many jade carving competitions.

Today, Brother Xuan will share with you what is special about the Damakan raw stone.

The Damakan field is located on a small plain formed by impact below the Wusong River. The raw stones produced here are relatively small in size, generally around 1-3 kilograms, and rarely over 5 kilograms.

The smaller the raw stone is, the easier it is to be washed and carried by water.

After a long period of action, the surface of the original stone is polished to be extremely smooth and the internal structure will become tighter.

Also because of this geological feature, Damakan has produced a lot of top-grade jadeite.

Moreover, the glass and ice types it produces are of relatively high quality, even better than Moshisha.

However, due to its small size, the Damakan raw stones are generally not used to make bracelets, and are mainly used for carvings.

In addition, the raw stones produced in the Damakan area can be roughly divided into two categories: semi-mountain and semi-water stones and water stones.

Everyone should be familiar with water stone, whose skin is smooth and not rough.

The shape is generally oval or round, without obvious edges and corners, and is relatively round.

This is because the water stones have undergone long-term weathering and have been transported over long distances.

The originally rough shell has been gradually polished away, leaving only the hard part.

It is often soaked in water, so the texture becomes extremely delicate, making it easy to produce high-quality jade.

Water stone is therefore loved by many jade lovers.

The texture of half mountain and half water stone is between water stone and mountain stone.

Although its skin is not as smooth as water stone, it is not muddy like mountain stone.

The half-mountain and half-water stone also has a layer of sand, but its sand is clean and thin.

The "water-turned-sand stone" often mentioned in the gambling stone circle is a typical representative of half-mountain and half-water stone.

In fact, the growth environment of water-turned sandstone is similar to that of water stone, and the two have a "symbiotic" relationship.

It’s just that the shell of water-turned sandstone is harder than that of water stone. After being eroded by water for a long time, it still retains part of its original skin.

Therefore, water-turned sandstone will feel noticeably prickly when you hold it in your hand.

After a long period of scouring, the surface of the original stone has become very clean.

Although the surface feels sandy, there is no mud. This is also one of the biggest differences between semi-mountain and semi-water stones and mountain stones.

Moreover, the quality of water-turned sandstone is much better than that of mountain stone.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that products from Damakan are necessarily high-quality.

After all, the skin can be thin or thick. The raw stone with a thinner skin generally has better water quality, and you can see the fog and texture inside by shining a light on it.

On the contrary, if the skin is thicker, the water quality will be poorer, the internal structure cannot be seen under the light, and there will be sand falling off.

After taking stock of the characteristics of Damakan raw stone, it is not difficult to understand why it is the favorite of jade carvers.

After all, the raw stone from Damakan not only has huge potential for development, but its texture is generally good as well, and there will be no situation where the material is not as good as the workmanship.
