The reason why this green stone is called jadeite is because there was a bird in Yunnan at that time whose feathers were very colorful. The male bird has bright red feathers and is called the emerald bird, while the female bird has green feathers and is called the kingfisher. Because at that time this kind of stone had another color besides green, which was bright red. These two elegant colors were very similar to the color of the jadeite bird, so gradually, this green stone was also called jadeite.
