What type of jade is Qingshui?

Qingshui jade has certain requirements on the quality of jade. As long as the quality is below the glutinous quality and the base is not melted, even if the color is suitable, it cannot be called Qingshui.

The quality of Qingshui jade is not fixed, so it can be glass-type, ice-type, or glutinous-type. If it is bean-type jade with a Qingshui color tone, it is no longer called Qingshui, but directly bean green. Its color is light yellowish or bluish green, not gray, which is different from ordinary oily green jadeite.

Qingshui jade is generally an old type of jade with fine texture, obvious fluorescent effect, clean and clear base, no impurities, no gray, no black; and the color is elegant and very uniform, the color and the base are blended together, and the color root is almost invisible.

The worse the quality of jade, the worse the base: like bean-type and horse-tooth-type, its crystal grains are large and the fibers are coarse. They look like beans or even horse teeth to the naked eye. The base of such jade must be relatively rough.

A jadeite with good quality may not necessarily have a good base: because the base is a comprehensive reflection of its quality, water, color, clarity and cracks, so good quality is only one aspect. If the quality is good but it does not show a very good green color, or has obvious dirt and cracks, then such jadeite obviously cannot be said to have a good base.
