How to distinguish the authenticity of black jadeite? Is black jadeite jade?

Today I want to talk to you about black jadeite. In my impression, many friends only know that jadeite is green. Jadeite is not only green. Jadeite also has red jadeite, violet jadeite, and white and black. The white one is called white jadeite and the black one is called black jadeite.

Black Jade

Black jadeite is a type of jadeite. "Black", as the name suggests, means black; and "jadeite" refers to the green color of jadeite. Black jadeite is not actually black jade, but a very deep green. In other words, black jadeite appears black due to excessive concentration of green. It can also be said to be too green. The black jadeite appears black under reflected light and dark green under transparent light. It has uniform color and fine texture. It has a strong luster after polishing and a good glue feeling. Black jade is mainly composed of minerals, mainly omphacite, and also contains jadeite and amphibole minerals.

Black jade is a new word in jade, and it has only become popular in recent years. Many friends are unfamiliar with the term black jade, but are very curious about it. In fact, black jade cannot be regarded as high-end jade, but because it is buried deep in the earth, its output is extremely rare and its mining is limited. Now the market share of black jade in the jade market is less than 2%. Coupled with its unique hidden color characteristics, combined with China's carving art and jade culture, it is extremely tempting. If the quality of black jade is good and the quality is high, the value of good quality black jade is also quite high.

How to identify black jadeite

Many friends often ask me whether a lot of the black jade sold out there are not real black jade, but blue water or oily green? But how do you identify whether it is black jadeite?

What are clear water, green water and blue water? Here is a detailed analysis for you:

Clear water, green water, and blue water refer to jadeite of good quality, with a bright base color not grayish, and tends to be blue or green, and belong to the oily green type of jadeite.

The iron content in the internal mineral content of jade gradually increases, so the jade will have a bluish base color. If the water quality is good, such as fine texture, high transparency, and the base color is not gray, it will be called clear water, green water, blue water or lake green.

If the iron content is added a little more, the base color of the jade will become grayer and oilier, which is what we usually call ordinary oily green jade.

If the iron content increases a little more, the content of diopside inside will become higher, and it will become diopside oily green. Its physical characteristics are slightly different from jadeite. Its hardness is lower and it is on the edge of jadeite.

If the proportion of omphacite in the omphacite oily green is higher, it will be the black jadeite among the omphacite jadeite, which has good water head, high transparency, green color can be seen through light, and the hardness is lower than jadeite.

Most of the black jadeite on the market is another type of "pyroxene jade", which does not fall into the narrow definition of jade that we usually talk about, because its jadeite content is less than 80%, and its physical characteristics also have obvious differences: for example, it is dry, its transparency is worse than that of diopside jade, its hardness is high, and some are even higher than jade, and its refractive index is also higher than jade.
