Talk about the five primary colors of jadeite

First, let’s talk about the original white: Jade with a very pure chemical composition does not contain pigment ions, so it appears white or nearly colorless. The output of white jade is higher than that of other colors, and most of them are not of high value. However, the nearly colorless or white glass and ice jadeite discovered and produced at the end of the last century has increased hundreds of times in just over a decade. This not only pushed up the value of white jadeite, but also broke the green-dominated jadeite world. Although this kind of jade is almost colorless, it has a delicate texture and is as transparent as water. With its luster and extraordinary elegance, it has become a new favorite among jade collectors.

The green color in jade is mainly caused by chromium ions, which is a primary color. In jade, as long as the chromium content is a few ten-thousandths, it can produce color. The chromium content of emerald green and sun green is a few ten-thousandths; the chromium content of emerald and dark green is a few thousandths.

If iron ions are involved in the coloring, the green hue can be changed into dark green, undissolved "black green", yellow green, bean green, gray green, melon green, etc.

The red color in jade is called jadeite, which is a secondary color formed by iron and manganese substances filling the space between grains or in cracks. Generally, substances with high-valent iron and manganese are mostly red in color, while substances with low-valent iron and manganese are mostly yellow in color.

There is also violet color in jade, which is also known as "spring color" in the industry and is a native color. The main coloring factor is manganese ions.

Cr, Ni, Mn, Mg, Fe and other elements in jade also participate in coloring, making jade colorful.

If a piece of jade has the three colors of green, red and purple, it is called "Fu Lu Shou" or "Peach Garden Brotherhood"; if it has the four colors of white, green, red and purple, it is called "Fu Lu Shou Xi". It is rare for these colors to be gathered together and their commercial value is relatively high. If a piece of jade has red, green, yellow, black, blue, cyan and purple colors intertwined together, it is called "seven-color jade" and its value is even higher.

There is also "black" jade among jade. It looks black on the surface, but actually it is not black inside. When you shine light on it you will find it is a dark green color, also known as black jade. Because of its uneven color tone, its value is relatively low.

If it looks shiny black, has eye-catching water head, uniform color tone, and is dark green under light, it is more valuable and relatively rare. This kind of jade can be carved into fine pendants with high commercial value.

Some products on the market use it to carve into Zhong Kui ghost-fighting pendants, which are very majestic, able to suppress evil spirits and have a masculine aura, and are ideal for men to wear.
