The identification of jadeite is actually not complicated. As long as you master the most essential identification characteristics of jadeite and comprehensively verify the characteristics from multiple angles, you can basically determine the authenticity of jadeite with the naked eye. First, determine whether it is jadeite or not. Based on the jadeite properties and the characteristic structure of interlaced silk threads, you can determine whether it is jadeite or not. 1. Fiber interlaced structure When observed through light, jade can be seen to have a structural phenomenon of interlaced threads. This interlacing phenomenon is more easily seen in the defective parts of jade, especially the cotton and strands. No matter how transparent the jade is or how pure the inside is, there will be inclusions visible to the naked eye. It can also be observed with the help of transmitted light or a ten-fold magnifying glass. As long as this phenomenon can be seen, it can be regarded as the special fiber interweaving structure phenomenon of jadeite. 2. Jade When observed with the naked eye or under a ten-fold magnifying glass, the jadeite surface or shallow interior parts appear as flaky and star-shaped reflections of varying lengths and widths. It is easier to observe on the surface of jadeite raw stone or sawn pieces. The jadeite quality of polished jadeite becomes weaker and needs to be carefully searched. The jadeite quality of jadeite with fine grains is not easy to see and needs to be identified in combination with other methods. Jadeite quality is the hallmark of jadeite, but not the only hallmark. For coarse-grained opaque jadeite, the jadeite properties can be observed; for translucent jadeite, the structural phenomena are obvious; for jadeite with higher transparency, the structural phenomena of the defective parts can be observed. The jadeite quality and structure can be used to determine whether the sample to be tested is jadeite or "non-jadeite", but whether it is natural jadeite still needs further judgment based on the characteristics of natural jadeite. In the next article, we will introduce the identification of natural jade in detail.
