Today I would like to share with you the process of carving a seal using a piece of full green polyhedron thick jadeite with color roots. After the edges and corners of the material were polished, it became a large piece of complete and full-colored material, just like a plump rice dumpling, with lush green flowing as if about to drip, and clear and pure green under the light. Finally, the jade carver determined the design and carving plan of the lion seal "Qiyuxuanang". Seals are meant to gain trust, and are symbols of promise, authority, and status, often giving people a sense of propriety and properness. The jade carver has fully taken this into consideration when designing and creating. Based on the appearance characteristics of the jade material, the jade carver designed the bottom of the seal into a square rectangle, as the saying goes "no rules, no order", to highlight the unique and deep meaning of the seal. The sides and top were flexibly modified according to the appearance, with three blue lions carved on the top and sides. The blue lion is not an ordinary lion, but the mount of Manjushri Bodhisattva, the incarnation of great wisdom. As the mount of Manjushri Bodhisattva, the blue lion is not only the king of beasts, representing power and fearlessness, but the lion's roar is also a metaphor for Buddhism making a loud voice that shakes the world. At the same time, it is also a symbol of wisdom and divine power. Just as the words inscribed on the seal say "The lion's roar brings down the jade screen" and "The majestic demeanor roars with wisdom". The appearance of a blue lion on the seal strengthens the seal's connotation of "prestige, honor, and power". In terms of processing techniques, the layout of the three lions guarding the seal allows a clever combination of rules and dynamics. The three lions occupy each side and echo each other. The whole work becomes vivid, brave, and majestic, full of kingly momentum, and carries the light of a mythical beast, which is both awe-inspiring and admirable. The addition of auspicious elements such as precious beads, ruyi, and auspicious patterns not only improves the sense of picture, but also fits the original intention of jade carving creation that "the work must have meaning, and the meaning must be auspicious." With its protection, you can be healthy and safe. It symbolizes faith, fearlessness and wisdom.
