Is jade sealing wax "loyal" or "treacherous"? Why did someone return it twice because of it? !

For many jade lovers, returning the jade they bought is a common thing if they are not satisfied with it. However, a Ms. Xu requested returns twice after buying jade. The first time she requested a refund, the merchant agreed to refund the money, but she regretted it. When she requested a second return, the merchant asked for a conditional return on the grounds that she had to pay a 100 yuan appraisal fee . What happened?

Buyer is dissatisfied: Jade has traces of sealing wax

It turned out that the cause of the incident was that Ms. Xu spent 500 yuan to buy a jade pendant online, which came with an "A-grade jade" identification certificate. However, about a week after receiving the goods, she suddenly found a small black spot on the back of the jade. Although it was inconspicuous, it still made Ms. Xu suspicious, so she asked a knowledgeable friend to help identify it.

When her friend suspected that the jade might have been sealed with wax , Ms. Xu filed a return request with the merchant.

However, after the merchant agreed to her return application , Ms. Xu hesitated .

I feel that although this pendant has been sealed with wax, it is difficult to find a pendant with such good water head and such delicate carving at such a favorable price of 500 yuan. Moreover, this black spot is very small and does not affect the beauty of the jade at all . Based on these considerations, Ms. Xu ultimately did not ship the goods.

About a month later, when Ms. Xu wore the watch every day, she found that the small black spot gradually grew larger, and there seemed to be a faint crack in it . Although the crack was small, it felt like it was growing on Ms. Xu's chest. She felt more and more uncomfortable, so she again filed a return request with the seller.

Merchant conditions: Add 100 yuan appreciation fee

However, when the second application was made, the merchant was not as forthcoming as the first time, and proposed a condition that an additional 100 yuan appraisal fee must be paid for the return of the goods. This made Ms. Xu feel very aggrieved. She bought a defective product and was asked to pay a higher price before she could return it.

Later, the merchant told reporters that the lady’s return of the goods did happen and the problems she reported were basically true. During the first refund, the merchant agreed to the refund because they had to abide by the principle of "7-day no-reason return and exchange" .

The situation is different when refunding for the second time:

First, the lady has been wearing it for more than a month , so how can she return it whenever she wants? It’s like buying clothes. Can you return them after wearing them for more than a month? After playing with the jade pendant for more than a month, is it all for nothing?

Second, this jade is already very cheap , and the merchants also know that the wax-sealed jade has some flaws, so the price is not high, and they do not raise the price to fool consumers. The quality and texture of the jade are entirely up to the consumers to judge.

Third, the merchant agreed to a refund the first time , but Ms. Xu went back on her word and refused to refund, causing the refund period to expire. Even if the merchant agreed to a refund one month later, the product would have been sold for one month less. The buyer’s time cannot be wasted, but can the seller’s time be delayed at will?

Based on the above points, the merchant was unwilling to accept Ms. Xu's return application, so he proposed to add a 100 yuan appreciation fee.

View of the event: Keep a positive attitude and don’t be greedy

From the buyer's point of view, the reason for buying this jade is not only because he likes its appearance, but also because it is cheap. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Such a cheap jade cannot be perfect. If one has the mentality of "picking up a bargain" from the beginning, then it is normal to feel disappointed later.

This is why the editor has repeatedly reiterated that when buying jadeite, you must not have the mentality of "picking up a bargain". You must pay attention to "look more and buy less" and truly understand what kind of goods go with what price. Otherwise, the psychological gap will be too great and disputes will easily arise.

From the seller's perspective, why would they sell such jade? Because it sells well, even though it has defects, it is cheap, and there are a lot of people willing to buy it at a bargain price.

Of course, the reason for this return is still due to the sealing wax. So what is the matter with jade sealing wax?

What is Jade Sealing Wax?

Why does jade need to be sealed with wax?

Sealing wax, also known as waxing, is the last step in jade processing. During the polishing process, in order to make the surface of the finished jade product smooth, shiny, and have a beautiful and uniform luster, the wax is melted into the surface of the jade, entering into tiny pits or cracks, filling the unevenness, making the surface smoother, and preventing the entry of oil stains.

There are two ways to seal with wax. One is to soak the jade into melted liquid paraffin. The other is to slightly heat the jade, spray white wax powder on it, and then wipe it with a woolen cloth to allow the wax to penetrate into the tiny cracks.

It is worth noting that there is a difference between sealing wax and injecting wax on jade.

Sealing wax is an optimization treatment for jadeite, which can better protect jadeite and make jadeite look better, especially covering small cracks and flaws. It is recognized in the jadeite industry and national jewelry standards. This optimization is already quite common in jadeite finished products. Now, nine out of ten jadeite on the market have been waxed, which is a very normal phenomenon.

The wax-injected ones are B-grade products, which are commonly known as fake products . There is an essential difference between the two.

However, many jade lovers often confuse the two, misunderstand waxing as jade fakes , and even try every means to remove the wax on the surface of jade.

For example, some people have suggested that by heating the jade in 100 degrees Celsius hot water and then taking it out to wash it, the wax on the surface of the jade can be removed.

This method is quite ridiculous. Not to mention whether heating jade can remove wax, the heating step itself is harmful to the jade. Taking it out to clean after heating can easily cause internal cracks in the jade . Even if there are no cracks, it will cause "internal injuries".

Anyone who knows about jade knows that there is no flawless jade in the world. Waxing can cover up cracks or pits on the surface of jade and protect the moisture inside the jade from being lost, making the jade look more lustrous and transparent.

In addition, waxing is non-toxic and harmless to the human body. Since it can make the jade more perfect, why not do it?
