The Lotus Guanyin, created from floating green jadeite pieces, is exquisitely carved.

According to the design, the raw material is shaped into an oval. Green is the most valuable color in jade, so the areas with floating green should be preserved as much as possible, and you can create more colorful effects when carving!

Draw the center line of the plaque, first determine the face position, and use an oil pen to paint the facial features onto the jade. The green floating position in the lower left corner can be decorated with a lotus flower, and the other scattered green floating positions can be decorated with water droplets.

Use a small round ball to make a rough draft according to the designed lines. Guanyin has a kind face, eyes closed and a solemn expression.

The carving technique combines negative carving and positive carving. The negative carving makes the Guanyin head more three-dimensional and the facial features clearer.

The lotus and water droplets are cleverly carved in relief, making the content of the work more reasonable and the sense of layering stronger.

The lines of Guanyin's head are carved in shallow relief, which allows for a better transition. The transition between the border of the plaque and Guanyin is natural and smooth, and completed in one go.

Use oil pens to clearly depict Guanyin's facial features and lotus, use small tools to further polish, and carve out details such as lotus petals, Guanyin's eyeliner, sideburns, lips, etc.

Guanyin is a common theme in jade carving. The difficulty lies in carving the face. A Guanyin with a well-carved face is lifelike, while a Guanyin with a poorly carved face is dismal.
