In fact, dark-colored jade is so rich in color that the quality of its water is not so obvious. As shown in the picture, the green color is so rich that it is mouth-watering, which affects our visual judgment of the transparency of this jade. In jargon, this is called color suppression. Because the color is too good, the seed base looks less transparent visually, but in fact its seed base is much better than what we see visually.

Although the dry green jadeite has a deep color, it lacks water and looks rough; while the color-pressed jadeite not only has a rich color, but also a more crystal clear water. It is just that people pay more attention to its color and visually ignore its icy taste.

Just looking at the picture, some jade lovers may say: Isn’t this just ice-type colorless jade? But if we look closely, we will find that the base of this jade is very clean, and you can't even see any cotton with the naked eye, but in fact it does have color, just a lighter one.

In fact, the reason why this kind of jade is so good is that the base color is weakened. Even if it is a full-color jadeite, when the quality of the jade is good to a certain extent, its base color will appear weakened visually. In other words, the water quality is so good that it overshadows the color.

The biggest difference between pressed color jadeite and colorless ice jadeite is the color. Colorless ice jade looks similar to ice cubes, while pressed-color jade is definitely colored jade, but the color is lighter.

In general, "color overpowers quality" refers to the situation where the color intensity of jade is greater than the quality of jade, which is relatively more common in violet jade with a blue-purple base, and full green jade, etc.; while "quality overpowers color" refers to the situation where the quality of jade is stronger than its color, which is relatively more common in full-color jade with a lighter color.
