Characteristics of B-grade Jadeite

Jade products are undoubtedly a hot spot in the current art collection and investment field. It is divided into three categories, namely A goods, B goods and C goods.

A-grade jade refers to natural jade.

B-grade jade refers to natural jade of poor quality that has been soaked in acid to remove dirt and yellowing, and then injected with glue to improve its color.

C-grade jade is jade that has been artificially colored but is originally colorless, and is considered a fake.

Generally speaking, A-grade jade becomes more lustrous the more you wear it. However, B-grade jadeite has been soaked in strong acid and injected with certain radioactive silicone, which may even harm human health.

Some unscrupulous merchants in the market pass B-grade jade off as A-grade jade. They soak the jade in strong acid and inject glue into it to make the originally extremely poor jade become clean and transparent. However, it will return to its original appearance after a long time, so it is also called "shower jade."

There are three shortcomings of B-grade jadeite: one is that it is fragile and easy to break, and the sound made when lightly touched against each other is short and without a crisp sound. The second is aging and fading; the third is that the optimization process uses chemical corrosives such as "aqua regia", which is harmful rather than beneficial when worn on the body. At present, water glass or silicone has appeared on the market to replace epoxy resin as a reinforcing filling material.
