1. Hope

That is, "look", to distinguish the real from the fake by observing the color and gloss of the surface. The color of natural jade is natural and unevenly distributed, and generally has no fluorescence. Artificially treated jade can be seen as stripes of mesh under reflection, and jade filled with gum will fluoresce under ultraviolet light.

2. Smell

That means "listen", listen to the sound made by jade. The fake jade that has been chemically treated has its internal structure destroyed and is filled with gum, so it sounds dull when knocked. Natural jadeite makes a crisp sound when struck, like a metallic sound. However, everyone needs to be careful when knocking jade and not use too much force.

3. Question

That is, "quantity". Due to the high density and specific gravity of natural jade, we can clearly feel a heavy downward feeling when we hold the jade in our hands and weigh it a few times. Fake jade is generally lower in density than natural jade, so it does not feel heavy when you weigh it in your hand. This identification method is more suitable for medium-sized jadeite.

4. Cut

That is, "touch", some dyed jade will turn blue or gray, which looks unnatural. The surface of real jade is smooth to the touch and appears very shiny in the sun. The internal patterns are very delicate and have a cool feeling. Fake jade feels rough to the touch, the surface is not very smooth, the color is dull, and there are even bubbles inside.
