1. Look at the color In terms of color comparison, natural red jadeite is grayish in tone, and due to the alternation of various mineral veins, the color is varied and has a sense of layering; while burned red jadeite is bright and vivid in color, and the color is very uniform and monotonous, with no sense of layering. Generally speaking, the red color of natural jadeite often gradually blends with other colors, showing a state of color gamut fragmentation. Therefore, there are obvious dividing lines at the junctions of multiple color areas. Since burned red jadeite has been fired at high temperatures, its color boundaries are not clear, and the boundaries often appear to be gradual. 2. Look at the fineness Natural red jade has a round and delicate texture, full of water, and a warm and full color, while burned red jade has a rough texture, dry moisture, and a distinct granular feel. 3. Look at transparency The red part of natural jade will appear more transparent, and the transparency of the boundary area will be better, while the red part of burned red jade will have poor transparency, and there is no transition or gradual change in transparency between different colors. 4. Look at the smoothness Natural red jadeite is smooth and flat after polishing, with high reflectivity. However, burned red jadeite will undergo physical changes in the heat treatment process, so after polishing, small cracks will appear on the surface, and the surface will be uneven and the reflectivity will be weak. This requires more careful attention when purchasing red jadeite. 5. Look at the color root The hematite in natural red jadeite tends to be arranged in parallel and oriented directions, which is often called the "color roots". However, burned red jadeite does not have such color roots and will appear in a disordered radial arrangement. Generally speaking, heat-treated jade can be used for appreciation, but its collection value will be relatively small and its appreciation potential will be limited. Jade lovers should make their choices based on their purchasing purposes when purchasing red jadeite.
