How to identify A-grade jadeite bracelets? A-grade jadeite is natural

Jadeite, also known as jadeite jade, jadeite, jadeite and Burmese jade. Many people do not know how to choose jade when purchasing jade, and cannot distinguish between ab,c, and D grade jade. Some know the meaning of A grade jade, but some are not clear about what A grade jade means.

Here, let me explain to you what is A-grade jade and the relationship between grades ABCD of jade? And what does A-grade jadeite mean?

What does Grade A jade bracelet mean?

In terms of jewelry, A-grade mostly refers to jadeite. Jadeite is divided into several grades such as A, B, C, and D. Among them, Grade A jade is the most outstanding. Grade A jade is the best grade of jade, that is, pure natural jade without any subsequent artificial processing.

B-grade jade refers to natural jade of relatively poor quality that has been processed through acid washing and filling with glue.

Jade C grade is made from jade B, but with dye added during the later filling process to make the color of the jade more beautiful.

In the jade industry, B-grade jade includes B+C goods and C goods, so some merchants say that this is B1, which can be said to be pure B goods, or it may be B+C goods. Currently on the market, the most common B goods are B+C goods, followed by B goods, and pure C goods are very rare. Among B goods, B+C goods, and C goods, the price of B goods is higher because its raw materials are natural colors and have higher value than the raw materials of B+C goods and C goods.

The difference between A-grade, B-grade and C-grade jadeite;

A-grade jade is durable because its internal structure has not changed, and its color is naturally caused by ions, so it will not change over time. B-grade jadeite is fixed with fillers such as gelatin after its internal structure is damaged. Over time, the fillers will dry out and shrink, and the surface of the jadeite will crack. The jadeite will lose its luster and become dull, and will not be durable. However, its color will remain natural and will not fade over time.

Although C-grade jadeite has not been acid-washed or injected with glue, and its internal structure has not been damaged, its color is not natural but artificially processed and will fade over time.

B+C jadeite has been acid-washed, injected with glue, and artificially colored. Its internal structure is damaged and its color is not natural but artificially processed. It will not last long and will fade over time.

How to identify grade A jade bracelets:

There is no need to introduce A-grade jadeite. You are very lucky if you can buy it.

When the surface of B-grade jadeite is magnified, acid-etched patterns (orange peel-like or ditch-like) can be seen; the internal fiber interweaving structure is loose. The surface of A-grade jadeite is smooth.

The sound of a B-grade jade bracelet is dull and turbid when knocked, while the sound of an A-grade jade bracelet is crisp.

Infrared spectrum analysis shows that B-grade jadeite has 4 to 6 absorption peaks in the 2800~3200cm∧(-1) band, while A-grade jadeite has none. (This is a diagnostic basis)

[Differences between C and A goods]

The luster of C-grade jadeite is duller and the color is usually limited to the surface. Under magnified inspection, dye can be seen distributed in the gaps along the edges of particles inside C-grade jadeite, and dye can be seen gathering in the cracks.

If you wipe C-grade jadeite with a cotton ball dipped in acetone or alcohol, the cotton ball may be stained green.
